I am a proud Karerien (Eastern Anatolia) where I grew up and in later years and most of my adult life I have spent in London, UK.
Seven years ago I went back to Karer and I noticed the poverty and the massive lands were left unattended. The region is deprived due to the very cold and long winter, forcing the people to leave their lands and live in the outskirts of the big cities in misery.
Following my visit, I decided to introduce the lavender farming to the region to tackle poverty, help families to have financial stability, create employment and reclaim the unattended lands back to agriculture.
Despite many unanswered questions doubts, I started the first lavender field 2016 in Karer - Eastern Anatolian highlands at 2000m (6561 ft) above sea level. This is the highest altitude lavender field in the world, surrounded by volcanic mountains and glacier lakes. The region neighbours the Bingol Mountains where the snow never melts and winter temperatures drop to -18C.
The first two years were disastrous with countless failures, but the project finally had success after six painful years…As it developed it proved to be a unique project. We are now working closely with vulnerable women who are suffering from poverty, discrimination and violence. We support women in having their own lavender fields and we supply them with the lavender cuttings. Currently we are proud to say the women we help are all harvesting their own lavender fields and this number is rapidly growing.

What We Do
Our Lavandula angustifolia oil is steam distilled from the lavenders of the (Karer) Eastern Anatolia highlands, at 2000m (6561 ft) above sea level. These lavenders are grown from the highest altitude lavender fields in the world. Surrounded by volcanic mountains and glacier lakes, the region neighbours the Bingol Mountains, where the snow never melts and winter temperatures drop to -18C.
Bingol (Karer) is in a deprived region. The Lavender farming was set up in this region as a project to help women and children, who are suffering from inequality, poverty and discrimination. The project started back in 2016. Our aim is to enable vulnerable women and children to evolve and flourish from poverty to independency by helping them starting harvesting their own lavender fields.
This project has been a great success, we are able to help and support many women each year, allowing abandoned lands to be brought back into agriculture and consequently generating economic prosperity in the region.
